DIY and working environments

If you like to spend time working on DIY projects, eye protection is an important safety consideration. Foreign bodies can cause damage to the eye’s surface. We can supply you with prescription protective eyewear.

Screen work

A lot of us spend an average of 8 hours each day looking at a screen. Prolonged use can lead to eye strain and dry eyes. To prevent eye fatigue, you can follow the 20-20-20 rule; every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. We also have a number of different lens options which can help to make working on a screen more comfortable. view lens page here.

Healthy diet for healthy eyes

Antioxidants: vegetables such as Kale, broccoli, spinach, red peppers and leeks all contain the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which can help protect your eyes against macular degeneration.

Carrots: turns out they do (sort of) actually help you see in the dark. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which helps to protect against night blindness and cataracts. They also contain lutein, a yellow plant pigment that lowers the risk of cataracts and protects the eyes against damage from ageing.

Omega 3: Can help in the prevention of dry eye – a condition where the eyes do not make enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly. If you suffer from dry eye, include plenty of oily fish in your diet to ensure that you get a plentiful supply of Omega-3.
